UW-Eau Claire project aims to implement psychiatric advance directives across Wisconsin

Intro text
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire nursing students and faculty are working to bring transformational changes to how mental health treatment preferences are communicated in Wisconsin by promoting the adoption of psychiatric advance directives.
Similar to a medical advance directive, a psychiatric advance directive is a legal document that allows a person to communicate mental health treatment preferences before a crisis occurs. PADs have been implemented across approximately half of the U.S., including states bordering Wisconsin, but not yet in the Badger state.
