Nursing: Clinical Instructor – JR10013510 – Candidates must be current employees of UW-Eau Claire or UW-Eau Claire/Barron County

POSITION:

• The Department of Nursing seeks applicants for a full-time non-tenure-track clinical instructor appointment with the disciplinary expertise needed to teach in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Appointments may be made at the rank of Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a renewable position, contingent on performance. Areas of teaching responsibility may include undergraduate and graduate nursing courses, clinical instruction, simulation, and laboratory experiences based on departmental needs and candidate expertise. The appointment is for nine months (August through May). Candidates must be current UW-Eau Claire or UW-Eau Claire/Barron County employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
• Unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the United States.
• Eligibility for immediate licensure as a registered nurse in Wisconsin.
• Eligibility to meet all clinical agency requirements, including health care provider CPR certification, required immunizations, and other agency-mandated verifications.
• Satisfactory background check clearance in accordance with applicable state statutes and clinical agency requirements.
• Clinical practice experience relevant to assigned teaching responsibilities.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging through teaching, clinical practice, scholarship, service, and/or community engagement.
• Candidates must be current UW-Eau Claire or UW-Eau Claire/Barron County employees.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• DNP from an accredited nursing program or Ph.D. in nursing; or doctorate in a related field with a Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
• Teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate nursing programs.
• Professional clinical experience.
• Experience with clinical placement, preceptor collaboration, or graduate nursing clinical education.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning.
• Experience teaching in online, hybrid, simulation, and/or clinical learning environments.

DUTIES:

A typical clinical faculty workload may include up to thirty (30) credits of undergraduate and graduate instruction per academic year delivered in face-to-face, hybrid, online, clinical, laboratory, and/or simulation settings.

The successful candidate will:

• Teach courses consistent with programmatic and departmental needs;
• Collaborate with faculty colleagues in curriculum design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement within Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)-accredited programs;
• Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students;
• Participate in student recruitment, engagement, retention, and success initiatives;
• Participate in university, college, department, and professional service activities consistent with shared governance expectations;
• Maintain clinical and professional expertise relevant to assigned teaching responsibilities;
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with clinical and community partners;
• Pursue interdisciplinary teaching, scholarship, and community engagement opportunities as appropriate;
• Provide clinical supervision and evaluation of students in healthcare and community-based clinical settings;
• Teach and support student learning in simulation, laboratory, and clinical learning environments;
• Mentor and support graduate students in scholarly projects, evidence-based practice initiatives, and/or doctoral-level academic work consistent with program needs;
• Contribute to innovative academic, clinical, simulation, rural health, global learning, and community partnership initiatives.
