Alumni kazoo band creates buzz at Minnesota State Fair

When you mention the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and marching band in the same sentence, almost everyone envisions the 400-plus members of the Blugold Marching Band.

But there’s another band on campus. It’s smaller, and the members all play the same instrument. But like the BMB, they bring joy to those who witness their performance.

Alumni Kazoo Band at Minnesota State Fair

This is the 49th year the Bridgman Hall Kazoo Band will march in UW-Eau Claire’s Homecoming parade. In honor of the 100th Homecoming celebration for the university, members of past kazoo bands are making sure their voices — through the buzzing timbre of a kazoo — are being heard.

To spread the word about the 100th Homecoming and the 49th year of the Bridgman Hall Kazoo Band, past members gathered, along with some new recruits, at the Minnesota State Fair. They marched in one of the daily parades and brought their special kind of fun to those along the parade route.
