One of my students also does not understand English, so it has been helpful to speak some Japanese with him so that he can understand directions or words that the class is learning to read. Even though I only studied Japanese at the university because of my love of Japanese culture and the language, it has really benefited me in working with my students as well as traveling abroad.
Where in the world are Blugold alums?
Our Blugold alums are living and working all around the globe. From teaching in Wisconsin and China to working at Canada's Space Telescope Science Institute, our graduates are finding ways to bring their passions into the workforce. Find their stories and connect with them through the Connect Blugold Network or the languages department's bi-annual Polyglot newsletter.
