IACUC  

The IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee) oversees and reviews the care and treatment of animals in all animal study areas and facilities of the research entity at least semiannually to evaluate compliance with Public Health Services Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.

Federal regulations require investigators to obtain approval of an animal use protocol by the IACUC before commencing research using vertebrate animals.

Instructions for submitting an animal use protocol:

  1. All applicants must complete and submit the Main Protocol Form and the Protocol Addendum.
  2. Some applicants also may be required to submit one or more of the following addenda:


  1. All completed forms must be saved or converted into PDF files, and sent to the IACUC for review.
  1. It is the principle investigator’s responsibility to provide the IACUC secretary with a signed copy of all approved protocols.  Protocols are not active until the IACUC secretary has a signed copy in hand.
