The Center for International Education (CIE), the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) and the Center for Service-Learning (CS-L) received multi-year funding via the Blugold Commitment to support the Student-Faculty International Fellows Program for Research, Service, and Creative Activity.
The International Fellows program capitalizes on the strength and success of high impact academic experiences and is dedicated to supporting international student-faculty collaborative research/creative activity and research service-learning (i.e. field research conducted in conjunction with a service-learning experience). This program aims to achieve the following objectives:
1. To actualize the Centennial Plan’s commitment to accelerate global learning,
2. To support the Centennial Plan’s commitment to transformational learning, and
3. To fulfill an unmet student and faculty need for financial support to conduct international research and creative activities.
In addition, one hope is that some funded projects might grow into longer-term, self-sustaining international relationships or study abroad programs.
Applications are due to the Center of International Education by February 20, 2014. A proposal may be submitted by any member of the collaborating team.
This deadline is intended for projects that will be carried out in Winterim or Summer 2015. However, if feasible within the proposal, projects may be carried out in late summer 2014, in which case exceptions to have funds available earlier than July 1, 2014 may be considered. Also, projects proposed by faculty during their sabbatical in fall 2014 or spring 2015 may also be considered.
