Sociology Scholarships and Awards

We know the financial burden for college students can be stressful. This is why at UW-Eau Claire we offer a large amount of scholarships available to all of our students. As a student in the sociology department, there are a few scholarships available specifically for you. Make sure to check out these and all of the other scholarships available to you; the extra financial assistance is worth the effort.

Sociology awards available

In addition to scholarships, the sociology department also had a number of awards available to students based on their work within the department. These awards have various dollar amounts associated with them as well, another great opportunity!

Rowan awards for research achievement

Rowan Award: Early Achievement in Sociology

Eligibility: Small written projects completed by any student in a 100- or 200-level sociology class. Example: A two-page paper analyzing a newspaper article from a sociological perspective.

Award: One award of $50.

Rowan Award: Advanced Achievement in Sociology

Eligibility: Large written projects in a 300- or 400-level sociology class. Example: A ten-page research paper with an extensive literature review.

Award: One award of $50.

Rowan Award: Best Sociological Method Paper

Eligibility: Nomination by faculty teaching Soc. 332 from papers written for the class.

Award: One award of $100.

Rowan Award: Best Sociological Theory Paper

Eligibility: Nomination by faculty teaching Soc. 344 from papers written for the class.

Award: One award of $100.

That is not all
