Summary: Gamma Delta Chapter of the Kappa Pi Fraternity was installed as a charter member of the National Honorary Art Fraternity in April 1957. Membership required ten semester art credits with a 3.0 grade point average, an overall scholastic average of 2.4, and one-year membership in the college art club. Kappa Pi published two national magazines and one newsletter annually.

Biographical / Historical Note

Kappa Pi is a national honorary art Greek-letter fraternity, open to both men and women. Founded in 1911 at the University of Kentucky, chapters are installed only in recognized colleges, universities, and art schools meeting the standards of nationally accredited agencies. The purpose of Kappa Pi are to promote art interest among college students, to stimulate higher scholarship, and to bring art departments of various colleges closer together through activities. The Wisconsin State College started a chapter in 1957, but it seems to have disbanded in the 1960s.

Content Description

There are various letters to and from the local founder, art professor Ruth Foster. There is a ledger with membership lists and expenses, annual reports, programs, and the constitution. The Sketch Pad, a national biannual publication of photographs and material written by students and professors, is also included.
