Scope and Content Note

The audit reports consist of four series. COUNTY-WIDE AUDITS, 1932-1969, cover the county in general and the main departments. Departments included vary over time but usually include the Clerk of Circuit Court, Clerk of County Court, and often include Sheriff, Register in Probate, District Attorney and the Probation Officer. Reports are  arranged chronologically and each one covers the calendar year.

More detailed reports of the County Hospital, Mount Washington Sanatorium, the County Home, and County Highway Commission were submitted separately. Through the 1950's reports of these various HEALTH AND WELFARE INSTITUTIONS were submitted in one report. Only a few years of these comprehensive reports survive. This series also contains reports of the Mount Washington Home, 1960-1976. Note that in the early 1960's the Home underwent several name changes: from the Mount Washington Sanatorium to the Eau Claire Home for the Aged to the Mount Washington Home; nonetheless it was the same institution. All health and welfare institutions were audited according to the Fiscal Year (FY), July 1-June 30.

COUNTY HIGHWAY COMMISSION-Report on the Examination of Financial Statements with Supplementary Data, are present for the calendar years, 1928-1930, 1948-1961, 1963-1977; 1981-1982. Included in this sub-series is a list of names and expenses for Committee Meetings, 1939-1941.

MISCELLANEOUS REPORTS, 1937-1976, consist of financial statements, analysis, and statistical reports of various departments and funds. Reports are arranged alphabetically by title.
