The University Staff Professional Development Day is a yearly event open to all UWEC faculty and staff.
Save the date
University Staff Professional Development Day 2020 will take place on Thursday, June 4 in Centennial Hall. Despite these challenging times with COVID-19, the Professional Development Committee is still planning and preparing for this day in the hopes that we will be able to come together for June 4th!
This year’s theme, EAU, Exploring Gateways of Opportunity, appreciates the new campus gateway on Garfield Avenue while inviting you to take time to reflect, learn, and connect with the various opportunities that exist for University Staff. Your time to explore and grow on Professional Development Day helps you achieve professional and personal goals, which make you an asset to our campus community!
Keynote Speaker: Jean Abbott. Learn more about Jean from this Today's Show story, "Woman misdiagnosed with cerebral palsy for 30 years gets relief from simple pill."
Jean shared this message with the committee: “I’m so excited that I get to be a part of your Professional Development Day on June 4th! I have no doubt that you are going to leave inspired and motivated to live a more positive, purpose-filled life. I’m going to be sharing my journey of misdiagnosis – I went 33 years thinking I had a form of cerebral palsy, which limited every aspect of my life and what I was able to do and not do. So the messages are really going to be about how I overcame feeling devalued at work, dealing with negative situations, and some tools that I used to just be a more positive person no matter what challenges life threw my way. And I don’t care who you are, we all have those challenging days! So no one gets off scot-free. I’m really looking forward to seeing you on June 4th where together we can start living a more positive, purpose-filled life. See you there!”
