COVID-19 campus update: April 9, 2020

This twice-weekly newsletter contains important information about UW-Eau Claire’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and offers Blugolds details on how to access key resources and assist others on our campuses and in our communities.

Help for heroes
The leaders behind UW-Eau Claire’s Continuing Education and nursing education programs stepped forward to donate vital personal protective equipment to the front-line health care workers across the Chippewa Valley. The donation included hundreds of N95 masks and protective gloves, which were distributed to six different health care partners across the community. Read about the heartfelt donation that comes at a critical time for the heroes helping patients across our communities.

Social distancing message on social
To help educate and promote social distancing, UW-Eau Claire is sharing a graphic campaign that illustrates what a 6-foot distance looks like in real life. Each graphic in the campaign highlights recognizable campus landmarks, familiar objects and people to show the distance that students should maintain between themselves and their fellow Blugolds. The campaign is being used on our campuses in Eau Claire and Rice Lake, and you can watch for the campaign to pop up on the university’s social media accounts in the coming days. This effort is yet another reminder of how we can all come together while staying apart. #StoptheSpreadEC.

Campus mail update
To help minimize staffing levels and limit exposure to those on campus, beginning today, mail service on campus will be limited to three days per week. On-campus mail will continue to be delivered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and additional deliveries will be made for time-sensitive items. If you have questions about on-campus mail service for the remainder of the spring semester, email mailservices@uwec.edu
