This twice-weekly newsletter contains important information about UW-Eau Claire’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and offers Blugolds details on how to access key resources and assist others on our campuses and in our communities.
UW-Eau Claire senior Sierra Parce, who began student teaching at South Middle School in Eau Claire in January, never expected to have to help her students deal with a pandemic. Despite all the twists and turns thrown at her this semester, Sierra is helping students make sense of the challenging reality that has affected us all. Sierra is working closely with fellow Blugold Kimberly Rice (’09) to give students support as they finish the spring semester. Read about Sierra’s journey as she prepares to graduate with a degree in special education for learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities.
Students: Today Is the Day!
UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff have been working hard to prepare to work with students in an online environment for the rest of the semester. Students, go into Canvas today to look for learning activities that have been posted. This “check-in” day will help test the new learning environment, allow students the chance to reconnect with instructors, and preview what and how you’ll learn for the rest of the semester. The semester continues online next week, and today is the perfect time to touch base with your instructors.
Cast Your Vote
The 2020 Wisconsin spring election and presidential preference primary takes place on April 7, and you can find information on the key local and statewide races at MyVote Wisconsin. You can use MyVote to update your voter registration address and request an absentee ballot. Today is the last day to request your absentee ballot, and absentee ballots must be mailed back in the provided envelope by April 7 to be counted. To request an absentee ballot, you must first update your voter registration. Appropriate sources of identification can be found here, including your campus ID. Students can find more information here about registering to vote as a university student using their home or UW-Eau Claire address. Voting is more complicated due to the impact of COVID-19, and for those planning to vote on campus, the polling place will be in Zorn Arena.
McIntyre Erases Fines
All library items due between March 9 and May 31, 2020, have had their due dates changed to June 2, 2020. This includes books, DVDs and equipment like laptops. Any overdue fines on items during this period have been erased. Items that were due prior to March 9 will still show as overdue and can be renewed online through June 1. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
