Commencement exercises for 85 students at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire — Barron County will be held at 7 p.m. May 21 in the Fine Arts Theatre on the campus in Rice Lake.
A total of 80 students are candidates for Associate of Arts and Sciences degrees, and five will receive the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree.
Those not able to attend in person can watch a livestream of the ceremonies.
During the ceremony, the Bethany Brass community ensemble will lead with the playing of the national anthem.
Chancellor James Schmidt will offer congratulatory remarks, and Patricia A. Kleine, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, will give the welcome and closing remarks.
Cecelia Cole, academic librarian, will give the Address to Graduates. Shawn Larson, Student Government Association president, will deliver the Student Address.
Knute Brekke, who received his associate degree from UW-Eau Claire – Barron County in 1983, will be recognized and awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award. Brekke, a Rice Lake native, is now a chief remote operated vehicle pilot for Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in Moss Landing, California.
A reception for graduates and guests will follow the ceremony in the gathering area outside the Fine Arts Theatre.
