Kristin Schumacher has been named director of University Centers at UW-Eau Claire.
Schumacher, who has served at UW-Eau Claire since September 2014 as the University Centers assistant director for activities, involvement and leadership, will begin her duties as director of University Centers on Nov. 13.
As director of University Centers, Schumacher will oversee the programs, budgets, staff and facilities that serve to promote and enhance student life at UW-Eau Claire. Units within University Centers, which is part of the division of Student Affairs, include the Activities, Involvement and Leadership Office; Blugold Card Services; Blugold Dining; Event Services; Printing Services; the Service Center; and the University Bookstore.
“I am extremely pleased with the decision to select Kristin Schumacher as the University Centers director,” said Dr. Beth Hellwig, vice chancellor for student affairs. “I have had the honor to work with Kristin since she was hired as University Centers assistant director for activities, involvement and leadership. Kristin brings a wealth of experience from her previous institutions, and will do an excellent job as our new director. She is innovative, knowledgeable and competent and will be an advocate for students.”
Before joining UW-Eau Claire, Schumacher was director of Student Development and Leadership at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, from 2007-14 and assistant director of student activities at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota, from 2005-07 following a career in the private sector.
Schumacher received a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Winona State University and a master’s degree in organizational leadership with a higher education concentration from Lewis University.
