The UW-Eau Claire Student Senate passed a bill earlier this year approving the allocation of just over $9.5 million in student differential tuition funds for the 2011-12 academic year through the university's Blugold Commitment initiative.
The Student Senate approved differential tuition support of high-impact learning experiences for students;provost-led initiatives focused on improved course availability, enhanced student advising and course development for the university's liberal education curriculum;and financial assistance for students in need.
Of the $9,509,292 in differential tuition spending approved, $5,018,556 will support 62 projects that include domestic and international cultural immersion experiences, internships, innovative projects, enhanced teaching and learning, and expanded opportunities for student-faculty collaborative research and creative scholarly activities. The Senate also approved $1,658,416 to support the provost initiatives and $2,832,320 in student financial assistance.
The Blugold Commitment was approved by the UW System Board of Regents in 2010.
