Passion AND Pride

Assistant trainer Tom Kurtz watches the Blugold football team practice on upper campus on what would one day be called Simpson Field. When this photo was taken circa 1971, Link Walker was the head football coach, and track coach Bill Meiser was the head trainer. Walker became head coach in the fall of 1968 and when he retired 19 years later was the winningest Blugold football coach in school history with a 104-84-3 record. Assistant trainer Kurtz received a bachelor's degree in psychology from UW-Eau Claire in 1972.
