Dear Fellow Blugolds,
“The Power of Possible.” That’s the theme of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation’s Centennial Campaign, and for me it’s a reminder of what the collective support, vision and generosity of nearly 80,000 Blugolds can do to preserve the value of the Blugold degree. Together, the efforts of our alumni throughout the world hold great possibilities and power.
As Chancellor James Schmidt and UW-Eau Claire’s faculty and staff work together to reimagine the university’s core functions following recent budget cuts, the Foundation board is focused on the many ways the Foundation will be helping.
The Foundation had identified key focus areas for fundraising for the Centennial Campaign, which runs through the culmination of UW-Eau Claire’s Centennial celebration in June 2017:
- scholarships for student recruitment and retention;
- success funds to support the work of our great faculty;
- key programs, such as Blugold Beginnings, to make college possible for diverse populations; and
- funding for facilities projects like the Confluence Arts Center and the County Materials Event and Recreation Complex on Menomonie Street in Eau Claire.
Additionally, the Foundation took the extraordinary step of partnering with a developer in building student apartments in downtown Eau Claire. Haymarket Landing will provide much-needed student housing at a time when the university is undertaking extensive renovations to residence halls on campus. Over the next few years, I expect the Foundation to step forward to help raise awareness and funds in other areas of great need and opportunity for the university.
The UW-Eau Claire Foundation stands ready to marshal the collective force of faculty and staff along with those who already are giving to support this great university. If you are one of our 14,000 donors from this past fiscal year, thank you!
If you are waiting for a good reason to step forward to have your gifts count for something great, we need you now more than ever. Help us be part of the force that will sustain UW-Eau Claire through this latest time of challenge and ensure a stronger institution in the future. Our degree meant something when we graduated, and it must continue to mean something for future generations of Blugolds. Join us.
Sincerely,
Barry Moullet ’83
Chairman, UW-Eau Claire Foundation Board
