Stephanus Badenhorst is currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He is currently enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Behavior Analysis. He also is pursuing a minor in Kinesiology. Stephanus was born and raised in Graaff-Reinet, South Africa, but later moved to the United States to finish high school and to attend university.
Outside of school, Stephanus enjoys providing tennis instruction at the local YMCA. Stephanus mostly teaches basic tennis skills and technique to beginners but also assists in teaching the more advanced classes. Even though Stephanus mostly participates in tennis nowadays, his favorite sport is cricket which he played during his time in South Africa.
Through the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire McNair program Stephanus was paired with Dr. April Bleske-Rechek and together they are working on research that is aimed at better understanding the ambiguous term, microaggressions. Other than research Stephanus seeks opportunities to join groups who are aimed at helping students overcome challenges, these could include social or academic challenges. Groups he is currently involved in include the Campus Autism Program and the Summer Reading Clinic. Upon completing his bachelor’s degree, Stephanus is looking to further his education through pursuing a master’s degree in School Psychology.
