Meet Karina! Karina Wait is a senior at the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. She graduates in Spring 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
Karina is working with Dr. Braun in the UWEC Kinesiology Department and Dr. Der-Fa Lu in the Nursing Department for her McNair research. This research is a collaboration with Exercise Is Medicine On-Campus program and focuses on the use of social media in promoting healthy strength training behaviors within the college female nursing population. Due to her interest in exercise promotion and rehabilitation, Karina is currently applying to Occupational Therapy graduate programs. In the future, Karina hopes to connect her current passions regarding exercise with the education she obtains as an occupational therapist to develop the recovery programs for her patients.
As a Human Performance student, Karina is involved in numerous positions promoting healthy habits and exercise. Currently, she personal trains community members in the Community Fitness Program and assists in the Cancer Recovery Program. Outside of class, she works at Momentum Sport Fitness and as a Teacher’s Assistant in a Kinesiology class. In her free time, you can find her in the gym, exploring the outdoors, or visiting her family.
