During Nurses Week, UW System nursing students, including those at UW-Eau Claire, undertook a collaborative initiative to give back to their local communities and to increase visibility for the nursing profession. As part of this initiative, each student nurses organization chose a local organization to support. The ECSNA at the Eau Claire site selected The Community Table located in downtown Eau Claire. They solicited donations from students and faculty for use by Community Table clients, as well as cleaning supplies, condiments and other items for the organization in support of its mission. The Marshfield nursing students organized a Dollar War to support Shirley’s House of Hope, a local shelter for women and children suffering from domestic violence. Classes competed against each other with all proceeds matched by the Marshfield ECSNA .
