Dr. Kelso, a character on the television sitcom Scrubs once said, “Nothing in this world worth having comes easy." The BSN December 2016 cohort can further attest to that as they braved seven inches of snow and low temperatures to celebrate their graduation from UW-Eau Claire College of Nursing and Health Sciences on Saturday, December 17th.
“I am so grateful for this nursing program," remarked Sarah Weigman, "not only did I receive a great education, I made amazing friends, and was able to have a lot of great experiences throughout clinical. I plan on working at the Mayo Clinic Hospital here in Eau Claire and hope to pursue an advanced degree in family practice in the future. My advice for younger students is to find your passion and don’t let anyone tell you that you aren’t good enough. You can do anything you put your mind to!”
Stephanie Hurst continued: “I would not have wanted to experience this journey at any other school. Through this program, I have made lasting friendships with students and instructors and gained valuable experience and knowledge through classes and clinical rotations that I will carry into my future career as a nurse on the Medical/Surgical Floor at the Mayo Clinic Health System - Oakridge in Osseo. One thought I would like to share with younger students is that learning and success are not linear. Some days you may feel like the smartest, brightest student and are the master of ABGs and other days you want to hang up your stethoscope and drop out of nursing school forever. The ups and downs are just a part of the journey. Dust off your scrubs and stick with it, because you’ll find that nursing school is well worth it in the end.”
