UW-Eau Claire students will be affected by changes to winter parking regulations recently enacted by the Eau Claire City Council.
Starting Nov. 1, alternate-side parking will be in effect on city streets only after major snowfalls that enact a residential full-plow operation. Notifications of residential full-plow operations will be posted on the city's website, and students are encouraged to sign up for email notifications from the city.
Alternate-side parking requires that cars be parked on the side of the street with even-numbered homes on even-numbered days and on the opposite side on odd-numbered days. Old parking rules stated that from Nov. 1 to May 1, cars were to be parked on alternate sides of the street every night from midnight to 7 a.m., whether or not there was snow on the ground.
Residents must now follow alternate parking rules from midnight to 5 p.m. for three days following notice of a residential full-plow operation, which will be provided by 6 p.m. the night before.
