UW-Eau Claire construction update: June 1, 2018

The following is an overview of work completed since May 1, 2018, and expected in the next 30 days on UW-Eau Claire construction projects.

Work completed since May 1, 2018

Garfield Avenue redevelopment

  • Partially completed irrigation installation.
  • Began tree planting in Putnam Park outdoor classroom area.
  • Installed concrete landscaping blocks in Blugold Mixer, amphitheater and outdoor classroom areas.
  • Began utilities removal and replacement between Hibbard Hall and Kjer/Brewer/Zorn complex (expected completion June 8).

Karlgaard Towers south tower renovation

  • Completed new student room window installations.
  • Started bathroom and lounge window installations on south side of tower.
  • Completed plumbing rough-ins.
  • Started plumbing fixture installations.
  • Completed rough electrical work in student rooms.
  • Installed most hallway lighting and smoke detectors.
  • Completed heating, ventilation and air-conditioning installation.
  • Completed painting in student rooms.
  • Started staining interior doors.
  • Completed painting penthouse exterior.
  • Continued installing rough electrical on floor 1.
  • Continued installing second of two new elevators.
  • Completed installation of steel studs.
  • Completed tile installation in bathrooms on floors 7, 6 and 5.
  • Completed drywall installation in common areas.
  • Installed first-floor windows.
  • Completed steel structure for new entryway addition.
  • Installed carpet in student rooms and hallways on floors 10 and 9.

New residence hall

  • Completed installing block walls from basement through floor 1.
  • Completed installing footings on east side of structure.
  • Completed backfilling up to foundation walls.
  • Completed chilled water line and electrical installation.
  • Partially completed steam line installation.

Pablo Center at the Confluence

Work to be completed in next 30 days

Garfield Avenue redevelopment

  • Continue grading, irrigation installation and landscaping of project site.
  • Continue utilities removal and replacement between Hibbard Hall and Kjer/Brewer/Zorn complex (expected completion June 8).

Karlgaard Towers south tower renovation

  • Continue bathroom and lounge window installations on south side of tower.
  • Complete installation of hallway lighting and smoke detectors.
  • Continue plumbing fixture installations.
  • Install penthouse doors.
  • Continue installing rough electrical on floor 1.
  • Continue installing second of two new elevators.
  • Continue tile installation in bathrooms on floors 4, 3 and 2.
  • Continue steel stud and drywall installation in new entryway addition.
  • Continue carpet installation in student rooms and hallways.

New residence hall

  • Continue installing block walls on floor 2 and upward.
  • Continue steam line installation.
