The following is an overview of work completed since Nov. 1 and expected in the next 30 days on the UW-Eau Claire Garfield Avenue redevelopment and Karlgaard Towers renovation projects.

Work completed since Nov. 1
Garfield Avenue redevelopment
- Garfield Avenue redevelopment
- Installed temporary section of asphalt to connect walkway between northeast corner of Schofield Hall and the footbridge.
- Installed temporary asphalt to connect walkway near northwest corner of Zorn Arena to Garfield Avenue.
- Completed backfilling with topsoil along concrete walkways.
- Completed mass grading of project area from west to east.
- Installed new permanent bike racks in front of Old Library.
- Partially repaved Roosevelt Avenue near Schneider and Phillips halls.
- Installed permanent lighting.
Karlgaard Towers south tower renovation
- Asbestos abatement completed on floors 6 and 7.
- Bathrooms demolition completed on floors 8, 9, 10.
- Continued demolition of basement and demolition of lobby.
- Continued 10-story exterior brick removal where new student lounge windows will be installed.
Work to be completed in next 30 days
Garfield Avenue redevelopment
- For winter months, close off “S curve” and walkway near Ecumenical Religious Center.
- Install guard rail at bottom of Garfield Avenue hill.
Garfield Avenue redevelopment: On hold until spring 2018
- Install monolithic stone in Blugold Mixer area.
- Complete repaving of Roosevelt Avenue near Schneider and Phillips halls.
- Install additional bike racks between Schofield Hall and Old Library.
Karlgaard Towers south tower renovation
- Asbestos abatement on floors 4 and 5.
- Bathrooms demolition on floors 7 and 8.
- Continue demolition of basement and lobby.
- Continue 10-story exterior brick removal where new student lounge windows will be installed.
- Begin painting ceilings in student rooms.
- Begin rough electrical work in student rooms.
- Begin plumbing rough-ins in new bathrooms.
