Trombonists to converge for sixth Trombone Summit

More than 100 trombone players will participate Oct. 18 in the sixth Upper Midwest Trombone Summit in the Haas Fine Arts Center at UW-Eau Claire.

The summit sessions and final concert are free and open to the public.

The event will feature master classes and a recital by guest artist Randall Hawes, bass trombonist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra since 1985. It also will feature guest trombone ensembles from the University of Minnesota, UW-Eau Claire, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point, Concordia College and Lawrence University.

Among the summit breakout sessions will be a presentation by UW-Eau Claire senior and Trombone Ensemble member Pete Winslow titled "Trombone Performance with Physical Disabilities."
