Students, faculty and staff are invited to the UW-Eau Claire Centennial Grand Finale, which will begin at 11 a.m. May 12 at the amphitheater on the campus mall. The event is part of the university's Springfest celebration.
"We've had a festive year, marking our university's 100th anniversary whenever we've had the opportunity," said Susan Harrison, UW-Eau Claire professor emerita of mathematics and Centennial Celebration coordinator. "This is one more chance, before finals week, for the campus community to come together to celebrate being a part of UW-Eau Claire's centurylong tradition of excellence, as well as its launch into its next 100 years."
Chancellor James Schmidt will speak briefly at 11 a.m., followed by food, a Visit Eau Claire photo booth and yard games on the mall. Free brats, hamburgers, hotdogs and veggie burgers will be available (while supplies last) to students, faculty and staff with a Blugold Card.
The Marketplace in Davies Center will be the rain site for the event.
A petting zoo featuring baby farm animals, sponsored by the Suicide Prevention and Research Collaborative student organization, also will be at the event, and UW-Eau Claire's student mascot, Blu, is expected to make an appearance.
