Students can receive tuition credit for supporting health care organizations during pandemic

UW-Eau Claire students who are EMTs, CNAs, CMTs, RNs or LPNs who worked 50 hours in health care organizations between Dec. 1, 2020, and Feb. 1, 2021, may be eligible for a $500 tuition credit.

A UW System program was open to students who were employed in a Wisconsin health care organization during those two months. Students have until March 31 to complete the Healthcare Tuition Credit form that includes information from their employer verifying the type of work and the hours worked and return it to Blugold Central. A copy of the form can be obtained from Blugold Central.

Students who qualify will receive a $500 tuition refund at the end of the spring semester. Students may receive only one $500 tuition refund regardless of the number of hours worked beyond the 50-hour minimum.

The tuition refund will be provided to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Enrollment at a UW System campus during the spring semester.
  • Work a minimum of 50 hours in a Wisconsin clinical or health care setting, such as a hospital, clinic, nursing home, long-term care facility, state or local health care facility, or state veterans home, between Dec. 1, 2020, and Feb. 1, 2021.
  • Are a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, certified medical assistant, certified nursing assistant, emergency medical technician, certified phlebotomist or nurse aid. Students who also qualify as a CNA under the emergency rule currently in place can participate as well.
