A city of Eau Claire road construction project along State Street will close a major route to the UW-Eau Claire lower campus starting Wednesday, June 19. The route is expected to remain closed through early October.
State Street will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians between the north side of Bartlett Court and the north side of Hamilton Avenue. See a campus map for the site of the road project in relation to the UW-Eau Claire campus.
A future phase of the State Street project, which may take place this fall or be pushed back until 2020, will affect travel to and from UW-Eau Claire's lower campus from the north side of Garfield Avenue to the north side of Bartlett Court. The dates of this phase and related traffic detours will be provided as soon as they are available.
Driving, walking detours
Beginning June 19, State Street detours for drivers and pedestrians traveling to and from UW-Eau Claire’s lower campus are as follows:
- Driving detour to lower campus from State Street/Hamilton Avenue intersection: East on Hamilton Avenue to Rudolph Road, north on Rudolph Road to Harding Avenue, west on Harding Avenue to Washington Street, southwest on Washington Street to State Street, south on State Street to lower campus.
- Driving detour to southbound State Street from lower campus: North on State Street to Washington Street, northeast on Washington Street to Harding Avenue, east on Harding Avenue to Rudolph Road, south on Rudolph Road to Hamilton Avenue, west on Hamilton Avenue to State Street.
- Pedestrian detour to lower campus: Walk west along Clairemont Avenue from Patton St. to University Drive, then down the campus hill on Garfield Avenue or via the stairway behind the McPhee Center that leads to the parking lot behind Davies Center.
