Miriam Gehler '96 has been appointed to the Eau Claire Area Economic Development Corp. board of directors for a three-year term.
Gehler has been the administrator of Marshfield Clinic's Eau Claire Center since 2006. She also serves on the board of directors for Wisconsin Illinois Senior Housing Inc. and has experience as a long-term care administrator. She holds a bachelor's degree in health care administration and a master of business administration degree (2004) from UW-Eau Claire.
Gehler said her experiences in the practicum required for the health care administration program at UW-Eau Claire were invaluable, and it's that kind of partnership between education and the business community that inspires her service with the EDC.
"This experience allowed me to be a part of leadership roles that enhanced my academic background and prepared me for my first job," said Gehler, who appreciated the support she received as a student in formulating a path to meet her career goals.
"I'm honored to be a part of the EDC because a strong economic environment is a pillar of a healthy community," Gehler said of her new leadership role.
