Ken Thoreson '73 is releasing three new books in a series of guides on sales recruitment, training and performance based on his award-winning blog, "Your Sales Management Guru."
"Leading High Performance Sales Teams" and "Recruiting High Performance Sales Teams" are available at www.AcumenManagement.com. Another book about success, being co-authored with Dr. Stephen Covey, is due out in fall 2011.
"I have seen many issues, but by far the No. 1 challenge is hiring the right people —especially salespeople," said Thoreson, who graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a bachelor's degree in economics and business administration. "We see organizations hiring without a thorough process and then failing to train people effectively to perform the job at high levels."
Thoreson has 20 years of experience in software and technology solutions systems sales and is founder and president of Acumen Management Group Ltd. in Vonore, Tenn. As an undergraduate, Thoreson was a resident assistant and founding president of the UW-Eau Claire chapter of Phi Gamma Delta.
"These leadership opportunities allowed me to grow personally and prepared me for life," he said.
