Follow-up open house on Garfield Avenue redesign set for Nov. 17

UW-Eau Claire faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in a follow-up open house to review and provide comments on the redesign of Garfield Avenue on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 12:15-1:45 p.m. in the Maple Lounge area of W.R. Davies Student Center. The Maple Lounge is located on the first floor to the left of the main elevators.

A consolidated site design, based on feedback received from the previous open house in October, will be  presented. Members of the design team for the Garfield Avenue project will be available to present information about design concepts, answer questions and solicit input.

The $12.4 million project, enumerated in the 2013-15 state budget, includes replacement of underground utilities from the base of the university hill to Park Avenue. The project also will remove the current Putnam Hall parking lot for development of a future outdoor classroom, reconfigure the south end of the footbridge to provide a more gradual incorporation into the Central Campus Mall area, and convert Garfield Avenue into a primarily pedestrian and bicycle thoroughfare in accordance with principles included in the 2010-30 Campus Master Plan.
