When Samara Gaitan '13 was asked to return to campus to speak about "adulting," she didn't immediately consider herself an expert on the topic. But the advice she offered current Blugolds in a Career Services SuccessShops presentation brought value and perspective to all in attendance.

Gaitan was a first-generation college student and a first-generation immigrant when she started her journey at UW-Eau Claire. She spoke about the people, opportunities and resources on campus that helped her reach her goals and become a successful graduate. Gaitan emphasizes that "you can't do it alone," and advocates for getting involved and meeting as many people as possible on campus.

In her six years since graduating from UW-Eau Claire, Gaitan says she has learned so much because of her experiences and opportunities at the university. She went on to graduate school in Colorado and currently works as a college advisor at Wallin Education Partners in Minneapolis. Gaitan provides scholarships and support to first-year students transitioning into college.
