Continuing Education offers 'Planning for a Confident Retirement' program

A three-session program for individuals planning for retirement will be offered by University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension beginning in late March.

"Planning for a Confident Retirement" will be held March 31 and April 7 and 14 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in Room 1204 of Centennial Hall on the UW-Eau Claire campus. Presented in both individual and group settings, the sessions will feature six industry professionals offering their insights and expertise on a range of topics to help participants make informed decisions about retirement.

Among topics to be explored are how to efficiently recreate your paycheck;strategies for maximizing Social Security benefits;unlocking the mystery of the Affordable Care Act and Medicare;and how to leave a legacy for family and community.

The following sessions are planned:

March 31

"Retirement and Financial Planning"; Adam Mohr, financial adviser, Ameriprise Financial "Charitable Giving Strategies"; Jennifer Nohelty, gift planning counselor, Gift Planning Services

April 7

"Estate Planning"; attorneys William Milne and Cindy Hangartner, Weld, Riley, Prenn &Ricci

April 14

"Medicare/Affordable Care Act"; Ben Jones, attorney, Weld, Riley, Prenn &Ricci "Social Security Strategies"; Kurt Kern, region vice president, Ameriprise Financial

Cost for the three-session program is $100.

"While access to such experts would normally cost hundreds of dollars, this small investment of $100 and three evenings could mean the difference between uncertainty and a confident retirement," said Adam Mohr of Ameriprise Financial.
