Well, here we are, rejuvenated and back at it after what I hope was a wonderful spring break (and which already is a distant memory for most of us, I'm sure). I know this is a busy time of year for all of us — students, faculty and staff — as we work to complete the goals we've set for this academic year.
But in the midst of the campuswide surge of energy during this last stretch of the semester, I want to put some focus on an important tool for our students' success: our upcoming Summer Session.
Students, taking a course or two during Summer Session could be a game-changer in terms of reducing your time to graduation. (Not to mention that Eau Claire is an awesome place to be in the summer — think weekly concerts and the farmers market in Phoenix Park, Eau Claire Express baseball games, outdoor dining at lots of local restaurants, miles of bike trails to explore and more!)
Did you know that staying in college just one extra year can cost a Blugold almost $50,000 in tuition and lost wages? If taking an extra few credits this summer might make it possible for you to graduate one semester sooner, that's worth thinking about!
Faculty and staff, please take seriously the influence you have in this regard with the students you teach, advise and employ. Encourage them to take advantage of Summer Session if it could help them meet their goals for graduation and, ultimately, entering the work force or moving on to graduate school.
Summer Session includes a three-week session from May 26-June 12, and an eight-week session from June 15-Aug. 7, and registration is now open. More information is available on the Summer Session website.
Let's make good use of this tool for putting our students on track to graduating one semester sooner!
