Chancellor James Schmidt will discuss the integration of UW-Eau Claire and UW-Eau Claire – Barron County from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6. His presentation will kick off UW-Eau Claire – Barron County’s “Thursdays @ the U” lecture and performance series for the fall semester.
Schmidt’s presentation, “Creating the Future of UW-Eau Claire – Barron County,” will be held in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall (Ritzinger Hall Room 234) on the Rice Lake campus, 1800 College Drive.
The chancellor will give his vision for the future of the recently integrated institutions and how their joining together will impact local residents and the economy of northwest Wisconsin.
Since July 2013 Schmidt has been the chancellor at UW-Eau Claire, where students know him fondly as “Chancellor Jim.” Before joining UW-Eau Claire, he was vice president for university advancement at Winona State University in Minnesota and executive director of the WSU Foundation Board of Trustees. He previously held administrative positions at several community and technical colleges in Minnesota. Schmidt earned a doctorate in education from the University of Minnesota, an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and a bachelor’s degree from Winona State University.
