Building projects on the docket

UW-Eau Claire is in the midst of planning the most comprehensive facilities improvements in decades. Three new buildings — a $48.8 million student union, $44.5 million education building and $3.2 million children’s center — are well into the planning process.

The student union and children’s center are scheduled to break ground in late fall 2010 and early spring 2011, respectively. The education building project is slated to get under way beginning in the 2011-13 biennium. This summer the exterior of Hibbard Humanities Hall, the footbridge and Oak Ridge Hall will undergo significant maintenance and upgrades, and a steam line to serve the new student union will be constructed.

The campus is currently engaged in a long-term facilities master plan process that will guide development on the campus for the next 20 years.
