Broadcaster to discuss local versus national media for ‘Thursdays @ the U’

Michael Duncan will present "Local Media versus National Media" from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, to conclude UW-Eau Claire – Barron County's "Thursdays @ the U" lecture and performance series for the fall semester. The event will be held in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall (Room 234, Ritzinger Hall) on the Rice Lake campus, 1800 College Drive. 

Duncan, a Rice Lake resident, will explore various aspects of media and news coverage, and will share stories from his 18 years in Washington, D.C., where he covered Congress and the White House. Duncan also looks forward to answering questions from attendees.

A broadcaster for more than 40 years, Duncan has worked at radio and television stations in Nebraska, North Dakota, Illinois, Texas, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Virginia and Washington, D.C. His positions have included radio DJ, radio talk-show host, news anchor and on-camera news, weather and sports reporter. Duncan currently works at WJMC/WAQE/WKFX radio, which has been recognized by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association as Wisconsin’s Best Small Market Local Newscast every year since Duncan was named news director in 2013.
