Blugold Welcome schedule set

UW-Eau Claire is looking forward to welcoming Blugolds back to campus with many events taking place all over campus. 

Friday, Sept. 2

Club Sports Expo | 11 a.m.-2 p.m. | Lower Campus Mall

Interact with over 30 club sports, learn more about intramural sport offerings and take part in a Spikeball tournament.

Environmental Adventure Center (EAC) Open Hours | 2-10 p.m. | Hilltop Center

The EAC houses our climbing and bouldering wall activities, equipment rentals (kayaks, bikes, etc.), and is the center for our Freshman Connection program and other awesome adventure trips. Check out their offerings during open hours throughout Blugold Welcome week!

Concert and After Party | 7 p.m. | Campus Mall

Grab a friend and get pumped for our opening day concert featuring Uncommon Denominator! Voted the No. 1 best cover band in the Chippewa Valley in the 2020, 2021 and 2022 "Best of" readers' poll in Volume One magazine, these Blugold alums create an experience you won't forget. 

And join us after the concert for a glow dance party sponsored by Multicultural Student Services and the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center!

Saturday, Sept. 3

Eau Claire Farmer's Market | 9 a.m. | Downtown Eau Claire

Free shuttles leave from Towers Hall at 9 a.m. and head to our Downtown Eau Claire Farmer's Market! Note: shuttles will only be dropping off — students will need to walk back to campus.

UWEC Football Game vs. Loras College (Iowa) | 3 p.m. | Carson Park

Free shuttles leave from Towers Hall starting at 1 p.m. and go until 3 p.m. Tailgate starts at 1 p.m. with food and drinks for the first 400 attendees, plus games, music and more! Shuttles will bring students back from Carson Park to campus from 5-6 p.m.

Moonlight Mile and Upper Campus Extravaganza! | 7 p.m. | Various Locations, Upper Campus

Music, food and energy will guide your way to activities across upper campus that are sure to be a good time! There will be sand volleyball, indoor games (billiards, table tennis, air hockey, bouldering wall), glow sports, outdoor games (Kubb, bag toss), a campfire and s'mores! The "Moonlight Mile" will be an opportunity for all students to celebrate wellness on campus and explore at night, with lots of glow fun!

Sunday, Sept. 4

Davies party | 9 p.m.-midnight | Davies Student Center and Campus Mall

Welcome to your new living room and hangout, Davies. Free food, fun and activities will be available throughout the building. There will be free bamboo plants, films, Mario Kart, a photo booth, board games, grocery bingo and more!

Monday, Sept. 5

Tour de Rec | 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and Afternoon Activities | Various Locations, Upper Campus

Join UWEC Recreation for free food, fun and fitness. You can also participate in the annual "Run the Hill" event with your friends at 1 p.m.! Be sure to check out all the activities happening in the afternoon as well. There will be a bag toss tournament, zip line and the opportunity to explore the ropes course.

Tie-Dye Affair | 1-4 p.m. | Behind Governors Hall, Upper Campus

Your RAs will host walkovers for your building-specific tie-dye rotation between 1-4 p.m. Bring your T-shirt (shirts will also be available for purchase for $5) and connect with your new friends in creating a tie-dye masterpiece. There will also be a "pizza-off" where you get to taste and then vote on the best pizza in Eau Claire from a variety of vendors. Bring your appetite and join in on the fun!

Tuesday, Sept. 6 (official first day of class)

Multicultural Student Services Open House and Muffins | All Day | Centennial Hall, Room 1106

Tour the Multicultural Student Services office space and chat with staff while you're there. Be sure to stop by and grab some muffins on your way to your first class!

Library After Dark | 6-10 p.m. | McIntyre Library

Join us for our annual back-to-school party, Library After Dark. This event is free for students and includes laser tag, life-size Clue, a nine-hole mini-golf course, free pizza and much more!

Wednesday, Sept. 7

Blu's Orgs Bash | 11 a.m.-2 p.m. | Campus Mall

Learn how to get involved in one or more of UWEC's 230-plus student organizations.

The CookOUT | 4-7 p.m. | Behind Horan Hall, Upper Campus

Join new and returning LGBTQ+ students and allies in connecting with peers, faculty, staff and administrators who are supportive of this community. Come grab some free food, have a discussion or just hang out.

Academic Skills Center Open House | 5-8 p.m. | The Suites, first floor

The Academic Skills Center and Housing and Residence Life are excited for a new partnership to bring tutoring and academic skills coaching to upper campus. Come see the new space, meet the staff and learn about how to schedule appointments for your academic success! Door prize drawings awarded to attendees, and if a student wins, their RA and residence hall wing wins a prize too!

Thursday, Sept. 8

MSS Welcome Back Picnic | 11 a.m.-2 p.m. | Chippewa Lounge Outlook

Join the Multicultural Student Services office and their event co-hosts — the Alumni of Color Network — for a delectable picnic to celebrate the first week of classes.

Senate Social | 1-4 p.m. | Campus Mall

Where a block party meets a student resource fair, join Student Senate on the campus mall for live music (from a special guest), yard games, caricatures, free Blugold merchandise, community gift cards and coupons, as well as information on UW-Eau Claire's governing student organization.

Grocery Run | 7 p.m. | Target/Walmart

Forget to bring something important on your move-in list? Need to replenish your snack drawer after your first few days on campus? Want to purchase fun decor now that you're all settled in? Take one of our free shuttles to the Target/Walmart shopping area and stock up! Busses will leave from Towers Hall at 7 p.m. and do round trips at 7 p.m. and again at 8 p.m. to Hastings Way locations.

Outdoor Movie | 7:30 p.m. | Campus Mall

Come to our first screening of the UAC film series! Grab a blanket, some popcorn and a few friends to watch "Elvis" — an epic, big-screen spectacle from Warner Bros. Pictures and visionary, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Baz Luhrmann that explores the life and music of Elvis Presley, starring Austin Butler and Oscar winner Tom Hanks. Admission is free with a Blugold ID!

Friday, Sept. 9

Part-Time Job Fair | 11 a.m.-2 p.m. | Campus Mall (Rain site: Davies Student Center, third floor)

Visit the UW-Eau Claire In-Person Part-Time Job Fair on the outdoor campus mall to meet local and campus employers for part-time employment opportunities.

  • Professional dress not required, but dress to make a great first impression.
  • Bring copies of your resume to hand out to employers.
  • Employers may be accepting applications at the event if you wish to complete them.
  • Bring your Blugold card to sign in at the event.
  • Research employers and check Handshake to learn about the organizations and openings available.

UW Meets EC | 5-9 p.m. | Downtown Eau Claire

Discover downtown Eau Claire and what it has to offer with fun giveaways, activities and so much more. Also take part in your first Food Truck Friday! A free shuttle will leave from Towers Hall starting at 4:45 p.m. until 7 p.m. Please note: The shuttle only drops off at Phoenix Park. You will need to walk back to campus (about 2 miles). Bring cash or card if you are planning to purchase anything on the walking route.

Saturday, Sept. 10

International Fall Festival | 11 a.m.-5 p.m. | Downtown Eau Claire

Free shuttles will leave from Towers Hall at 11 a.m. and head to the International Fall Festival in downtown Eau Claire! Note: Shuttles will only be dropping off. Students will need to walk back to campus.

For more than 30 years, this street festival has brought thousands of vendors to downtown Eau Claire to enjoy a wide variety of food, music, vendors and entertainment stretched over five blocks in the heart of the city.

Sunday, Sept. 11

Vikings vs. Packers Game | 3:25 p.m. | U.S. Bank Stadium

Join us on a coach bus trip to the U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis for Sunday football action! Register early to reserve your ticket. Bus leaves from Towers Hall on University Drive and parking is available in any university non-meter space. No refunds or cancellations. Register here
