Blugold Spotlight features Julie Carr

| Jesse Yang (story + video)

Julie Carr, a 1986 UW-Eau Claire alumna, is the university executive staff assistant to the vice chancellor for equity, diversity and inclusion and student affairs, and to the dean of students. Carr's passion for helping college students succeed at UW-Eau Claire encouraged her to open the Campus Harvest food pantry, with support from the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, in September 2014. Located in Room 4 of Schofield Hall, the food pantry serves all UW-Eau Claire students who self-identify as in need of supplemental food assistance.

However, Carr's efforts in harvesting ideas and resources to help students didn't stop there. In September 2018 she opened the doors to the new Campus Closet, located next door to Campus Harvest. The closet is a boutique-style shop stocked with new and gently worn professional clothing for all Blugold students free of charge.

Carr says she enjoys seeing the level of support from the campus and greater communities toward the two projects because it shows people want to help Blugolds succeed in their overall college career at UW-Eau Claire.
