Charles Vue, a 1989 UW-Eau Claire alumnus, is the associate director in the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Being the first Hmong student to graduate from UW-Eau Claire, Vue shares about his undergraduate experience during the mid-1980s when the Eau Claire community was in its early stages of welcoming its first wave of Hmong families, who fled from Laos and Thailand because of the Vietnam War.
Vue says his personal experiences and interactions on campus, as a student, inspired him to be involved in creating a more inclusive space and dialogue about equity and diversity at UW-Eau Claire. Vue’s passion in community work has translated into his involvement in serving as a commissioner on the Eau Claire Area School District Board of Education.
