April 29 'Let's Do Lunch' to focus on industrial sand mining geology and controversies

Dr. Kent Syverson, professor and chair of the UW-Eau Claire geology department, will present "Industrial Sand Mining in Wisconsin — Geology and Controversies" from noon-1 p.m. April 29 as part of the Alumni Association's "Let's Do Lunch" series. 

The event will be held at the Eau Claire Golf & Country Club, 828 Clubview Lane, Altoona. Syverson will provide an overview of Wisconsin's sandstone geology, attributes of "good" frac sand and controversies associated with sand mining and processing in Wisconsin. Syverson's presentation will be understandable to geologists as well as the general public.
