Andrew Jepsen has been named director of Recreation and Sport Facilities at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Jepsen had served as interim director of Recreation and Sport Facilities since August 2015 and from June through August 2013. He has held various positions in athletics and recreation at UW-Eau Claire since 2005, including assistant to the director of athletics, recreation program manager, sport facilities operations/maintenance manager and assistant director of administration and facilities.

"I am truly energized and excited for the opportunity to provide the leadership necessary for student engagement, facility development and long-term excellence for the Recreation and Sport Facilities department," Jepsen said.

The Recreation and Sport Facilities director is responsible for comprehensive administrative oversight of all university recreation facilities and programs, and works collaboratively with other university units and departments in the provision of recreation facilities, activities and programs.

“Andy Jepsen brings to the position many years of experience in collegiate recreation, but also in athletics management, so he understands the multi-faceted needs of our facilities,” said Quincy Chapman, UW-Eau Claire director of Housing and Residence Life and chair of the search committee for the new director of Recreation and Sport Facilities. “Andy also has a breadth of knowledge in capital planning, which will be essential in growth and expansion of our recreation and athletic facilities and programs that are part of our master plan.  Finally, most importantly, Andy has a student-centered focus that includes students in decision-making and ensures that programs are responsive to student interests and needs.”

Jepsen earned a master’s degree in exercise and sport science from UW-La Crosse, as well as a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and an advanced business communication certificate from UW-Eau Claire.
