Alumni return to share advice with current students

UW-Eau Claire alumni are passionate about the experiences they had on campus and how their time as students helped prepare them for success after graduation. They’re also eager to share what they’ve learned with the next generation of Blugolds.

That passion is what sparked UW-Eau Claire’s ExperienceU, an evening that will bring alumni together with current students so they can share their experiences and best advice.

The advice will be helpful because the alumni coming to campus for the April 16 event already have experienced exactly what she and other soon-to-be college graduates will go through after graduation, says Rebecca Lubecki, a recent public relations graduate and an intern in the Career Services office.

“Whether it’s about how to get a job in their field, moving to a different city, or how to reach out to other professionals, the alumni have useful advice to share because they’ve been there,” Lubecki says.

ExperienceU will run from 5-8 p.m. April 16 in the Ojibwe Ballroom in Davies Center.

Students attending ExperienceU will first hear from Stacey Stratton, a 1998 UW-Eau Claire marketing graduate who now serves as president of True Talent Group, a recruitment and staffing agency based in Apple Valley, Minnesota.

After the keynote, several alumni will lead discussions on "Maximizing your UW-Eau Claire Experience" and "Life After College.”

Students participating in the event will join alumni for dinner and will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the alumni.

Several recent graduates who will participate in ExperienceU shared some of their best advice in advance of the on-campus event. See their reponses on UW-Eau Claire’s Medium Blog.
