A University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire sophomore public relations major shares her first-person story about how a patient and approachable physics professor inspired and motivated her when she found herself struggling in her science class during her first semester as a college student.
"In those extra hours you spent explaining and re-explaining things to me on your free time, you gave me a reason to pursue things that seem impossible — especially when they're foreign and new to me. It is professors and people like you that make this entire ride worth it, and I'll carry that with me for the rest of my life," Melanie Daas says of Dr. Kim Pierson, who she says convinced her she's capable of succeeding in science, math and anything else she sets her mind to.
