A team of six UW-Eau Claire actuarial science majors competed and took first place and were awarded $1,500 at the 10th annual Travelers Actuarial Case Competition held on February 23, 2018.
The team consisted of juniors Paige Kaiser, David Miller, Jennifer Miller, Caroline Palen, Kevin Scherer, and McKenna Zuleger.
UW-Eau Claire was one of 10 universities nationwide invited to participate in this event held simultaneously at the St. Paul, MN and Hartford, CT offices of Travelers.
In a 4.5 hour period, the team completed data analysis and developed a comprehensive strategy to manage future losses related to catastrophes for a hypothetical company. The team presented their findings and recommended strategies to a panel of senior management leaders at Travelers who served as judges for the event.
