Terry Wells, senior lecturer in the Department of Management and Marketing, was presented with the 2017 Chuck Tomkovick Teaching Excellence Award. She was presented with a plaque and a $500 award at the department's fall meeting on August 24.

Wells teaches operations management courses during the academic year and works with management interns in the summer. She is an excellent teacher who is known for always having her students' interest at heart and always wanting them to succeed.

Wells is also known for her work as a mentor and academic advisor. In 2014, she was presented with the College of Business Coaching Award, and she has twice received the UW-Eau Claire Excellence in Advising award. In 2004, Wells was recognized nationally for her work with the UW-Eau Claire student chapter of APICS, the professional organization for students interested in operations management and supply chain management.

The Chuck Tomkovick Teaching Excellence Award is named for Dr. Chuck Tomkovick, a UW-Eau Claire marketing professor who passed away from cancer in July 2013. Recipients of the teaching award must demonstrate a passion for teaching, connection to alumni and a commitment to servant leadership -- all qualities Tomkovick possessed.
