For the 22nd year, the UW-Eau Claire McIntyre Library Staff Association, a voluntary organization composed of library faculty and staff, sponsored an annual fundraiser to benefit the Hmong Mutual Assistance Association (HMAA).
The HMAA is a social service agency that serves the local Hmong community by operating a food pantry and assisting in housing, employment, and translating services. The agency also works with other area services to assist the local Hmong community. Funds raised by the McIntyre Library Staff Association are used to purchase rice for the organization's rice pantry.
This year the Staff Association raised $615.75, which will buy more than 4400 pounds of rice, making a difference in the lives of our Eau Claire area neighbors. While most contributions come from university staff and faculty, anyone is welcome to participate, and indeed contributions come from those in the extended UW-Eau Claire community. Every penny of the money raised went to buying food for Eau Claire families in need.
McIntyre Library would like to thank everyone who participated in the fundraiser by donating and helping spread the word about the effort. We would also like to thank the UW-Eau Claire Foundation for assisting us with collecting online donations and managing the contributions.
