University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s McIntyre Library will once again host its third annual McIntyre Library Summer Conference, featuring the talents and interests of staff members throughout the library. The conference will be held on Tuesday August 14th from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Conference sessions this year include creative writing exercises, hula hooping, personal travel presentations, and demonstrations of library resources.
From 1:15-3:30pm, the conference will host a Library Services Open House, showcasing exciting new library resources including the upcoming Virtual Reality Lab and Blugold Makerspace. All University faculty and staff are welcome to come check out the exhibits, as well as some other relaxing and fun activities (such as board games, book crafts, and viewing the staff maker exhibit).

Travels Lightning Round Talk: 10:45 am – 11:45 am (Library Breezeway – 2nd floor)
Library staff will share personal stories from recent travels in the United States and internationally.

Virtual Reality Lab Demo - Preview the HTC Vive Virtual Reality system from the upcoming Virtual Reality Lab coming to Circulation this fall (Located on 1st floor next to the Circulation Desk)
Staff Maker Exhibit - Check out an exhibit of visual and written works created by McIntyre Library staff. (Located along the wall outside the 1st floor Computer Lab)
Board Games - Did you know the library has board games available for checkout? Come have fun while playing a sample of board games (Located near the 1st floor Computer Lab)
Makerspace Demo – Come try out some of the maker technology the upcoming Blugold Makerspace will feature, including a 3D Printer, sewing machine, serger, Wacom tablet, and Silhouette Cameo craft cutter (located in Lower Level)
Book Crafts – Looking for a peaceful activity? Check out our craft table, complete with supplies and instructions on how to turn book and magazine pages into quick and beautiful crafts (located in the lower level)
Intro to Hula Hooping: 3:45PM – 4:30 PM (Outside Behind McIntyre Library)
In this casual mini-workshop, we will explore waist hooping techniques. If you think you can’t hoop, you may be surprised! Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move freely in. Hoops will be provided.
