McIntyre Library to Host 2nd Annual Summer Conference

| Jenna Vande Zande

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s McIntyre Library will host its Second Annual McIntyre Library Summer Conference that features the talents and interests of various staff members from all departments. The conference will be held on Wednesday, July 26th from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. This year there will be four sessions with topics including self-defense, hand lettering, Arduino and Raspberry Pi, as well as learning to play Kubb. A special lunch session with a presentation by Electronic Resource Librarian, Roxanne Backowski, will be held at noon. The topic of the lunch session is Surviving and Thriving a Thru-hike of the Superior Hiking Trail: What’s it like to spend three weeks hiking the Superior Hiking Trail?

Lunch will be provided for library staff, but anyone is welcome to bring their own lunch and sit in on the presentation. The conference is open to all UW-Eau Claire employees - everyone working on campus this summer is more than welcome to attend any session! Simply contact Jenna Vande Zande at 36-3421 or to register.

Throughout the day, faculty and staff will also be able to stop by the book-themed paper craft table with projects contributed by Pinterest aficionados Erin Kriener, Circulation, and Crystal Schmidt, Cataloging Assistant. The craft table will be located in the Collection Development / Technical Services area on the third floor of the library.

New this year will be a staff art exhibit with pieces from many of the talented library staff. The exhibit will be located on the first floor of the library near the Instruction Lab. It will officially open the day of the conference and remain open for the week following. Viewing is available during summer library hours, 8 am – 6pm.
