As McIntyre Library begins its annual holiday giving project, we celebrate 25 years of supporting a local organization’s work against hunger in our community.
For the 25th year, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire McIntyre Library Staff Association, a voluntary organization composed of library faculty and staff, is hosting its annual fundraiser to benefit the Eau Claire Area Hmong Mutual Assistance Association (ECAHMAA).
Funds are used to purchase rice for the organization's rice pantry. Last year the project was able to raise funds to buy nearly 7,700 servings of rice for the ECAHMAA.
The ECAHMAA is a social service agency established in 1982 that serves the local Hmong community by operating a food pantry and assisting in housing, employment and translating services. Their mission is “to empower people, advance cultures, and enhance the quality of life for Chippewa Valley low-income families.” Since the ECAHMAA opened its doors, the Hmong population in the Chippewa Valley has grown to over 3,000 of our friends and neighbors. For more information about the ECAHMAA, visit their website at https://www.ecahmaa.org/
